Overuse injury?

I walked 1.5 miles on the treadmill the other morning. After, I stretched like I usually do, but when I did the hamstring stretch, my heel felt like it was tearing. Not good.

Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day, so I met up with BS and Salty (and her adorable son) for a 3.5 mile walk in the park. My heel felt fine in my shoes, but now it aches terribly. I can't believe I got an overuse injury at almost 41 weeks pregnant! Guess it is time to bust out the little tub for a mini ice bath for my feet.

The due date has now officially passed

No baby yet. Probably not too surprising. Babies show up on their due date 3-5% of the time. We'll just continue to be patient and he'll show up when he's supposed to show up.

On Saturday morning, I had a lovely 2.5 mile walk with BS and EM on the Towpath followed by a scrumptious breakfast at Fishers. Hopefully, the next time we go for a walk there, it will be with the strollers.

Yesterday, Matt and I went for a 1-mile walk at the park near our house. It was a little colder/windier today, but still nice to get out and not feel like such a bump on the log. There isn't much to do around the house (especially with my husband man nesting), so I'm catching up on DVR'd shows and reading books. Not such a bad gig.

This afternoon, I'll meet BS again for a mall walk (weather isn't as cooperative today) and a pedicure. Nothing like pretty toes during labor, right?! : )

I will keep you all posted. In the meantime, here are some new pictures:

Almost done

So, today is my last day of work for awhile. I'm glad, because I'm uncomfortable and I hate having people depend on me finishing up projects. Many of my co-workers went into labor the weekend after finishing up with work. We work in a high stress environment, so maybe knowing that you are done with that for awhile is enough of a catalyst to get the party started. I'm not saying I'm not okay with that, but I also can't claim to be not scared. One way or another, he is coming out, so I shouldn't stress about it, right?

I'm still working out, but it is pretty low key (yoga, walking, elliptical and swimming). One of my co-workers said his wife walked to help induce labor and he thought that I couldn't use that given my normal level of activity. I don't know if he is right, but I'm still planning to meet up with fellow preggos, BS and EM for a sunny walk on the Towpath tomorrow morning followed by a yummy breakfast! It is weird to me to make plans that I may not be able to keep. Of course, no one would be mad if I had to cancel due to being in labor, but still it is weird.

Some days I feel huge and others I feel small. Earlier this week, one lady asked if I would make it to the end of the project we are doing for them, which is June 1 and I said "no, I'm due Sunday". She was flabbergasted! It must have been a good optical illusion with my clothes that day. Then, today, one tri club member saw me at the gym and he said "You're still pregnant?! I thought you were due in December judging by your size then." Uh, thanks. I'll let you be the judge. Here are a couple pictures from this past weekend at 39 weeks. (If you don't like belly shots, please stop scrolling down) : )

This last one is of my sausage-like toes with my hubby's ring on the big one (hee hee)

Catching a Leprechaun

Last weekend, at two weeks before our due dates, Bridget and I did the Catch a Leprechaun 5k in Lorain, OH. Earlier in the week, we signed up in order to guarantee a race shirt. Bridget texted me "Thinking about signing up as an Athena." I texted back "That's what I did". Her response "Seriously? I was joking, but okay."

I thought it was our best chance to medal. The race isn't very well attended, but there were plenty of people in our respective age groups.

We lined up in back and without speaking about it, starting trotting together instead of walking (our original plan). Neither of us had run in about 8 weeks. After 0.5 mile, we took a 0.25 mile walk break. Then, we started running again. Towards the end of that 0.5 mile, we saw all of our friends and family coming back from the out and back section. They cheered for us and we felt like rock stars. We took another 0.25 mile walk break, ran another 0.5 mile, another 0.25 mile walk break and then ran the last 0.85 miles. Other than some shin pain for the first couple miles, I felt great the whole time!

We finished as #1 and #2 in the division (there was actually a #3, but she walked the race with her daughter) in a time of 44:43. It was way faster than I had even hoped. Getting a medal just made it all the sweeter!

Here are a couple pictures of us (one before the race and one after with our medals):

After the race, we picked up bagels and headed to see TriSara to visit with her and her adorable new daughter! What a cutie!

Bridget and I thought about doing the St. Malachi 2-mile walk today, but the weather was just too unfavorable for a walk. The countdown is on to get to meet my son and her daughter. Wish for us that we don't go too late!
