Wasn't Crazy After All

In my last post, I mentioned that I was planning to do a 25 x 100 swim challenge. Well, Bridget and I made it! We broke up our sets into 4 100s, which consisted of 100 swim, 100 pull, 100 kick w/ board and 100 breast/free. We made it through 4 sets of these before having to answer the frequent pregnant call of nature. We ate a donut hole and headed back for the remaining 2 sets followed by 100 cooldown.

By the end, my calves were feeling a little crampy, but it was worth it to feel the pride of accomplishment! It is funny that a distance that would have been routine in my pre-pregnant training I consider to now be an accomplishment. Well, I haven't been swimming more than a mile and most of the time I use pool toys like fins and paddles. On this swim, we used neither. Rock on!

I couldn't have done it without Bridget. She'd never swum that far in her life, so it was even bigger accomplishment for her! I can't tell you how grateful I am to have her in my life. I'd met her a few times previously and had run with her once, but I really didn't know her. Through this shared pregnancy experience, I have made one very good friend. I would be stir crazy without her. We ran together till about 30 weeks, then we took up swimming together (with TriSara too!). And, we have a shared love for second breakfast. : )

I'm leaving soon for our next swim followed by hopefully breakfast at Lucky's! We are both still moving at 37 weeks along and my doc thinks it is fabulous!

Here are some recent pictures of the two of us together.

All done:

We'll soon be done with our pregnant adventures (I had my first labor dream last night), but then we'll have new workout adventures with our kids in tow!

Oh, and congrats to TriSara for the birth of her beautiful daughter! We often told her that she had to have her baby, so we could have ours! : ) It won't be long now. Gulp... Doc thinks my baby will be 8 pounds by his due date.

Officially Lost My Mind

So, my triathlon club is having a swim challenge on Sunday morning. The lowest distance is 25 x 100 yards, so I just wrote it off as not doable. But, then I talked to the fitness director at my gym (where the swim challenge will take place) and she said "C'mon, you have 4 hours to do it." Well, I thought I'd gauge the interest of fellow preggo, Bridget (due 2 days after me), because we were going to swim there that morning anyway (although we usually only go 1200-1300). She's up for it, so we are now signed up. I have officially lost my mind doing this at 36 weeks pregnant, but I can always bail if I don't feel good, right? I'll definitely earn those pancakes this Sunday!

I promised Matt that I would talk to my doctor about it tomorrow when I go in for my first weekly visit. I don't suspect he'll be a problem though. He thinks it is great that I'm so active. Wish me luck!

I'll leave you with two pictures of the bump at 35 weeks. One offers a unique perspective (and also explains why I've lost sight of my feet) and the other is me in my dead sexy maternity suit.

Not long now

"Not long now." That's what I keep hearing from everyone. In the grand scheme, it is definitely a short time till I welcome my baby boy to the world, but for now it still feels far away. My due date is in 6.5 weeks, but who knows if he'll show up on time?

I'm still feeling fairly good and have continued lifting, swimming and doing the crosstrainer. Bridget and I are even thinking of attempting the Frostbite Prediction Run this weekend, which is a 5k. In that race, you don't have to be fast, just good at predicting your finishing time.

In other news, my mother-in-law's shower for me is this Sunday and I'm looking forward to seeing my friends and family. Plus, it will be great to finish up the nursery. I'm sure I'll be nesting soon.

I'll leave you with new pictures of the bump from this past weekend at 33 weeks along (don't I look like a redneck in the second one?!):
